NITDA Communications Director Hadiza Umar Makes 2026 PR Power List, Graces Glazia Magazine Cover

The Director of Corporate Communications and Media Relations at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mrs. Hadiza Umar, has been recognised among Nigeria’s leading public relations professionals after being named in the prestigious 2026 PR Power List.

The annual list, compiled by GLG Communications in partnership with The Guardian to mark World PR Day, celebrates 50 outstanding public relations professionals in Nigeria and the diaspora whose strategic communication efforts have significantly influenced organisations, shaped public discourse, and advanced the profession over the past year.

In addition to the recognition, Hadiza Umar received another honour at the exclusive PR Power List Soirée and Awards held at Alliance Française, Ikoyi, Lagos, where she was unveiled as one of the cover personalities for the Glazia Magazine PR Power List Special Issue.

Reacting to the dual recognition, Umar described the magazine cover feature as an unexpected and humbling honour.

She attributed the achievement to the supportive leadership of the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, noting that his vision has provided an enabling environment for the agency to effectively promote Nigeria’s digital economy agenda and technological innovation.

“I am deeply humbled and honoured to be recognised on the 2026 PR Power List and to feature on the cover of Glazia Magazine alongside other exceptional industry titans,” she said.

According to Umar, the recognition reflected NITDA’s sustained efforts in driving strategic communications around national information technology policies, digital literacy programmes, innovation, and startup development initiatives aimed at positioning Nigeria as a competitive player in the global digital ecosystem.

A seasoned corporate communications professional, Umar is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the African Public Relations Association (APRA), and the Institute of Corporate Administration (CICA).

The organisers of the PR Power List said the 2026 selection followed a rigorous and independent assessment by an international jury, adding that this year’s honourees represent professionals who continue to raise the bar in strategic communications while introducing innovative ideas that are transforming the public relations industry.

Meanwhile, the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Emporium Reporters Online, Comrade Lukman Laleye Babalola, on behalf of the management and editorial team, congratulated Mrs. Hadiza Umar on the remarkable feat, describing the recognition as a well-deserved honour and a testament to her professionalism, strategic communication expertise, and outstanding contributions to advancing public sector communications in Nigeria.

He noted that Umar has consistently demonstrated excellence in projecting NITDA’s programmes and Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda through effective media engagement and strategic public relations, wishing her greater accomplishments in her service to the nation and the communications profession.
