In a strategic move to bolster national security architecture, the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to grassroots security and community-based intelligence during an operational tour of Anambra State.
The visit, part of a nationwide operational assessment of the Corps’ activities, saw Prof. Audi engaged with key stakeholders and personnel on the ground, with a strong focus on enhancing operational readiness and public trust.
Welcomed by the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, at the Government House in Awka, Prof. Audi commended the state’s leadership for its proactive approach to peace and security, describing Anambra as a model for subnational governance and resilience.
“Security must begin from the grassroots. That is where people live, work, and build the future,” the Commandant General stated. “The Corps remains resolute in delivering quality service and ensuring that the confidence reposed in us by Nigerians, particularly Ndi Anambra, is fully justified.”
He emphasized the importance of strengthening community-based intelligence networks, improving personnel welfare, and enhancing logistics and infrastructure to boost the Corps’ efficiency in responding to contemporary security threats.
In his response, Governor Soludo lauded the NSCDC for its professionalism, discipline, and critical role in safeguarding public assets and infrastructure.
“Anambra’s greatest resource is its people innovative, industrious, and forward-looking. Their safety and prosperity are central to our development agenda, and we deeply value the NSCDC’s partnership in achieving that vision,” the Governor said.
He assured the Commandant General of his administration’s continued support and collaboration with security agencies to maintain peace and foster economic development in the state.
Prof. Audi’s tour underscored the NSCDC’s strategic pivot toward innovation, local engagement, and integrated intelligence as key pillars of its mission under his leadership.
