The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has congratulated cadets of the Nigeria Police Academy following their victory at the 2026 RIL Campus Crown Awards Debate Competition, where they outperformed participants from various tertiary institutions across Kano State.
The cadets emerged champions after a keenly contested debate that showcased some of the brightest students from universities and other higher institutions in the state. Their performance was marked by exceptional eloquence, analytical reasoning, intellectual depth, and public speaking skills, earning them the competition’s top prize.
The RIL Campus Crown Awards is a youth-focused initiative aimed at promoting leadership, critical thinking, teamwork, and responsible citizenship through debates, sports competitions, and other developmental activities.
Reacting to the achievement, IGP Disu described the victory as a reflection of the quality of academic and leadership development programmes at the Police Academy. He noted that intellectual excellence remains a vital component of modern policing and commended the cadets for serving as worthy ambassadors of both the institution and the Nigeria Police Force.
The police chief urged the cadets to sustain their commitment to excellence, discipline, and professionalism, stressing that such qualities are essential in building a highly competent and service-oriented police force.
Also speaking on the accomplishment, the Commandant of the Academy, Patrick A. Atayero, praised the victorious team for bringing honour to the institution. He described the feat as evidence of the Academy’s commitment to producing well-rounded officers equipped with both professional competence and intellectual capacity.
Atayero encouraged other cadets to strive for excellence in both academic and extracurricular activities, assuring them of the Academy’s continued support in developing their talents and leadership potential. He also reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the institution’s vision of becoming a world-class centre for professional policing, leadership development, and academic excellence.
The IGP further extended his congratulations to the Academy’s management, staff, and cadets, expressing confidence in their ability to achieve even greater successes in future competitions.
