The Nigeria Police Force has recorded a series of operational successes across six states, foiling armed banditry and robbery attacks, arrested 34 suspects and recovered firearms, ammunition and other exhibits.

In Benue State, police operatives on August 9 foiled an attack by armed bandits on Jootar Police Station in Ukum Local Government Area. The operatives engaged the attackers with superior firepower, forcing them to flee. No police personnel was injured or killed in the attack.
In another operation in Benue, police responded to a distress call over suspected armed robbers who had blocked the highway at Ayati Village, Gwer East LGA. The suspects engaged the police in a gun duel before fleeing into a nearby bush.
A locally fabricated revolver gun, four rounds of live cartridges and a mobile phone were recovered, while the roadblock was dismantled to restore free movement along the highway.
In Ekiti State, police arrested a 40-year-old man over the alleged attempted rape and assault of a 96-year-old woman in Emure-Ekiti. The suspect was taken into custody and reportedly confessed to the offence, while the victim was immediately taken to hospital for medical attention.
Meanwhile, in Akwa Ibom State, police operatives arrested eight suspects during raids on suspected criminal hideouts based on credible intelligence, recovering various suspected illicit drugs.
In a separate operation, detectives arrested three suspected cultists who were allegedly gathered at Ikot Ubok Udom Village in Nsit Atai LGA. One single-barrel gun and a pump-action gun were recovered.
In Imo State, 11 suspected militia members were arrested after police operatives stormed a suspected militia hideout at Odumara Orodo in Mbaitoli LGA.
A charm-fortified bullet-proof vest made of wood was recovered during the operation.
Similarly, in Ogun State, three suspects were arrested over the alleged theft of company cable wires at a quarry in Odeda.
According to the police, the suspects were identified through CCTV footage and taken into custody for interrogation. Efforts are ongoing to recover the stolen cables and determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged theft.
The Force said investigations into the various incidents are ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Departments in Makurdi, Ado-Ekiti, Uyo, Owerri and Eleweran.
The police reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged members of the public to continue providing credible information that could assist security agencies in preventing and combating crime.
