The Presidency has firmly denied reports suggesting a change in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), described the information as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Saturday, June 28, 2025, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, affirmed that Senator George Akume remain the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“The information circulating about Akume’s replacement is untrue. Agents of mischief fabricated it,” Onanuga stated.
He clarified that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments.
The Presidency, therefore, urged Nigerians to disregard the rumour and desist from spreading fake news capable of creating unnecessary tension.
