Ramadan: Sen Barau seeks support for needy, prayers for national development

Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has welcomed the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, following the declaration of Monday, March 11, 2024, as the first day of the month by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III.

The sighting of the new crescent from different parts of Nigeria marked the beginning of the Ramadan Fasting.

Senator Barau, in a statement, enjoined Muslims to take good advantage of the blessed month of Ramadan by intensifying prayers to Almighty Allah.

He urged wealthy individuals and groups to support the needy during and after Ramadan as enjoined by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

” I welcome the commencement of this blessed month of Ramadan following the sighting of the crescent. Ramadan is a blessed month to worship Allah, seek forgiveness and support the needy.

” As we all know, this is a period that comes with a lot of rewards and bounties, hence the need for us to include our dear country, Nigeria and leaders in our prayers for the development, well-being and progress of our nation. We have no place like Nigeria. Ramadan Kareem,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Deputy President of the Senate has concluded arrangements to distribute rice to over 200,000 households.
