On Sunday, June 22, 2025, the Wuse District Headquarters of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Abuja, Nigeria, was transformed into a hub of spiritual revival as it hosted a dynamic Youth Week celebration under the topic “Refresh Us Oh Lord!”.
This event, part of a nationwide initiative by the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, sought to inspire young believers to deepen their relationship with God and renew their spiritual fervor.
The youth choir, led by Sister Ejiro Greg, launched the day with an electrifying praise and worship. Their harmonious melodies and heartfelt lyrics created an atmosphere of unity and divine presence, setting the tone for a day focused on spiritual renewal.
The congregation was reminded of the words of Psalm 100:2, “Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with singing,” as they lifted their voices in worship.
Sister Ruth Michael, the speaker, delivered a stirring sermon titled: “Refresh Us Oh Lord and Restoring Our Relationship With You” anchored on John 15:15, where Jesus declares, “No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.”
Sister Ruth Michael emphasized the importance of cultivating an intimate relationship with God, drawing parallels from the lives of biblical figures who exemplified such closeness.
Sister Ruth highlighted and illustrated the dynamics of this spiritual connection, highlighting biblical figures such as Noah’s obedience (Genesis 6:22), Abraham’s unwavering faith (Genesis 15:6), David’s heart after God (Acts 13:22), and Jesus’ perfect communion with the Father (John 17:21). She urged the youth to emulate these examples by prioritizing daily fellowship with God through prayer, Bible study, and consistent faith practices.
Quoting James 4:8, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you,” she encouraged attendees to break down barriers that hinder their spiritual growth.
In her closing remarks, Sister Ruth led the congregation in a heartfelt prayer, asking God to renew their passion for Him and restore their spiritual vitality. She reminded them of Isaiah 40:31, “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint,” assuring them of God’s promise to refresh those who seek Him.
The event not only strengthened the bonds of fellowship among the youth but also reignited their commitment to a personal and transformative relationship with God. As the day concluded, there was a palpable sense of renewed purpose and dedication among the attendees.
This Youth Week celebration serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring need for spiritual renewal in the Christian journey. It challenges believers, especially the younger generation, to continually seek God’s presence, embrace His Word, and walk in faith.
As the church moves forward, the echoes of “Refresh Us Oh Lord!” will undoubtedly last longer in the hearts of those who were inspired to draw closer to their Creator.
