Segun Ogunwuyi Sponsors Quiz, Debate Competition in Ogbomoso ,,, As He Donates Aluta Bus to FOGSU National Body

As part of his efforts to contribute his quota towards the development of education at the grassroots, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, who represents Ogbomoso North/South/Oriire Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Abuja, has sponsored the first edition of Quiz and Debate Competitions among public secondary schools across Ogbomoso organized by Federation of Ogbomoso Students’ Union (FOGSU) national council.

 

The competitions that started on the 7th of May, 2018 was part of Ogunwuyi Educational Support Scheme and the grand finale was held yesterday at Olagbami Osekun hall, Ogbomoso South Local Governments among public secondary schools in Ogbomoso North/South/Oriire/Ogo Oluwa and Suurulere Local Governments.

 

In his speech shortly after the presentation of prizes, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi noted that his intention was to assist and contribute his quota towards the development of educational sector of the state through a programme like this,.and also to encourage students to become responsible leaders of tomorrow.

 

He further stated that quality education remains right of every child especially at the basic level and believes it was an absolute pre-requisite for sustainable development and also its availability was not only the responsibility of the government but the society at large.

 

His Media Assistant, Peter Ayoade said Honourable Ogunwuyi had prioritized education and always ensure that he channeled his efforts towards assisting not only students but also their teachers.

 

Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi used the opportunity to advise the students to give their studies utmost priority in order to become an important person in the future. He also implored them to look for leaders who have true interest of the children and people at heart as role model whenever they want to have one.

 

Meanwhile, Community Grammar School, Alaropo nla from Oriire Local Government, Nurudeen Grammar School from Ogbomoso North Local Government, Shamsideen Grammar School from Ogo-Oluwa Local Government, Baptist Secondary Grammar School, Ahoyaya from Ogbomoso South Local Government were the participants who qualified for the final stage in the quiz competition, while Community Grammar School, Alaropo nla from Oriire Local Government emerged winner in the quiz and debate competition and went away with the gift of a brand new HP laptop, other run-up winners were given the consolatory prizes of cash.

 

The lawmaker reassured the people of his commitment to education and promised more of educating programs.

 

In addition, Ogunwuyi made a donation of Aluta bus to Federal of Ogbomoso Students Union,FOGSU, to aid the revolutionary movements of the union members.

 

“Today’s event is not a mere donation, but also the restoration of hope in leadership and a challenge to future leaders.

 

“It’s a demonstration of the promise made and a promise fulfilled,’’ he said.

 

Ogunwuyi said that in building a great nation, the youths must be properly equipped and positioned for leadership and responsibilities.

 

He said that the bus was to encourage the movement of students’ union members and their participation not only in political and social affairs in Ogbomoso but their participation in other institutions’ activities.

 

“This is a redemption of my promise to FOGSU national body and in fulfilment of part of my electoral promises.

 

“Therefore, it will ease your movement and I urge you to be true to your commitments in life,’’ he said.

 

“I promise to continue to justify the trust and confidence of my constituents in me by providing more responsive, purposeful and productive representation,’’ he concluded.

 

The President of FOGSU national body, Comrade Olusegun Ayanyinka, thanked the lawmaker for the gesture and promised that the students would make good ambassadors of the union.

 

Olusegun said that the entire students’ community in Ogbomoso both home and in disapora would always support him.
