President Bola Tinubu has emerged winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential direct primary election, defeating his sole challenger, businessman Stanley Osifo, by a landslide margin ahead of the 2027 general election.
The nationwide exercise, conducted across the party’s 8,809 wards, saw APC members vote directly to choose the party’s presidential candidate. The results were announced on Sunday at the Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja by the APC Presidential Primary Election Returning Officer and former Senate President, Pius Anyim.
According to the final tally, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu polled 10,999,967 votes to clinch the APC ticket, while Osifo secured 16,504 votes nationwide.
Tinubu recorded sweeping victories across virtually all regions of the country, with party officials describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of his leadership and administration by APC members.
In the North-Central region, Tinubu secured 374,787 votes in Benue, 310,990 in Kwara, 285,436 in Nasarawa, 241,720 in Plateau, 197,370 in Kogi, and 175,487 in Niger. He also received 36,103 votes in the Federal Capital Territory.
The President also dominated the South-East, polling 582,960 votes in Imo, 383,382 in Enugu, 207,579 in Ebonyi, 161,005 in Abia, and 43,034 in Anambra.
In the South-South, Tinubu secured 407,646 votes in Delta, 389,197 in Akwa Ibom, 280,082 in Rivers, and 227,192 in Bayelsa.
The South-West, regarded as a major APC stronghold, delivered some of the highest figures for the President, including 814,988 votes in Lagos, 322,485 in Ogun, 181,996 in Ondo, 142,754 in Oyo, 100,888 in Osun, and 85,340 in Ekiti.
Tinubu also enjoyed massive support in the North-West, with Kaduna returning 618,914 votes, Kano 500,852, Katsina 467,003, Gombe 450,517, Zamfara 321,579, Sokoto 301,000, and Kebbi 292,972.
Osifo recorded relatively low figures across the country, managing only scattered votes in a few states, including 1,186 votes in Lagos, 1,007 in Abia, 929 in Oyo, and 384 in Anambra.
The APC direct primary formed part of the ruling party’s internal process to select its candidate for the 2027 presidential election, where Tinubu is expected to seek a second term in office.
