Use The Service Year To Make Good Impact, DG tells Corps Members

Corps Members have been advised to maximize the opportunities of their service year to make positive impact and leave good legacies in their host communities.

The Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim gave this advise today while addressing 2019 Batch ‘C’ Stream One Corps Members in Kaduna State Orientation Camp.

He urged them to avoid all forms of social vices that could smear their image which in turn can affect their future prospects.

‘Keep your records clean, interact with yourselves and be disciplined wherever your are posted to. If you dent your record now it will hunt you in future’.

‘Maintain good integrity and don’t allow your employers to report you to NYSC on any behavioural infraction, study the requirements on winning the national award, but be careful, if you redeploy, you are not entitled to national award’. DG said.

The DG appealed to the Corps Members to be conversant of the security tips handed over to them at the point of their registration in camp.

He warned them to beware of people with questionable character and also exercise caution when dealing with strangers in order not to endanger themselves.

‘Avoid criminality because the life of every Corps Member is very precious to the Federal Government, the NYSC and your parents’.

‘Please don’t embark on unauthorized journey, your safety is very important to us. No Corps Member is permitted to drive vehicles that belong to any religious body’, he warned.

Ibrahim counselled the Corps Members to avoid misuse of social media but use it to promote National unity and cohesion.

He admonished them to study the felt needs of their respective host communities and execute projects that would provide succour for them.

The NYSC boss however added that no Corps Member is permitted to execute project with his money but rather carry the host community along and look for sponsors for such projects.

‘The NYSC has contributed immensely to National development, national unity and integration’, therefore you re expected to contribute your quota and write your names in gold in the anals of history’, lbrahim added.
