Veteran Nollywood Actor,Jimoh Aliu is dead

Veteran Nollywood actor,Chief Jimoh Aliu popularly known as Baba Aworo is dead.

The dramatist, Sculptor, Filmwriter, Playwright,Film Director and former National President of Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) died in the early hours of today Thursday, shortly after meeting with his children in Ado Ekiti,Ekiti state capital.

It was gathered that the 93years old thespian earlier met with the children and urged them to be united and be at peace with each other

An inside source said Pa Jimoh Aliu had premonition of his death, as he told his children that it was time to leave, he said he had done his path and it’s time to return to his creator after which he closed his eyes and had the last breath.

Chief Jimoh Aliu, a native of Okemesi Ekiti, in Ekiti West Local Government Area of the State was born on the 11th of November, 1939.’ in Ile-Obanla’s compound,

His father, Aliu Fakoya was a muslim and Ifa priest who hailed from Asunlua Compound, Ijana Street, Okemesi Ekiti, while his mother was a native of Iloro Ekiti.

Pa Jimoh Aliu attended St Peter Catholic Primary School situated in Oke Paadi street, Okemesi for his primary education after which his father being a Ifa priest taught him the art of divination and use of herbs.

He also learnt trades like bricklaying, tailoring and driving in Lagos Nigeria.

He was a founding member of Vigilante Group of Nigeria and he held the post Deputy Commander General (Southwest) of Vigilante Group of Nigeria until his death.

The Senior Special Adviser on Tourism Development to Ekiti state Governor, Kayode Fayemi, Amb. Wake Ojo Lanre while speaking on the development said Baba Aworo demise was a sad development, “I don’t wish he died in the next ten years because much of his contributions to the promotion of arts and culture as well as traditional institution is needed but God knows better, may God grant him eternal rest”
