At just 16, Osasere Okundaye has made history as Nigeria’s youngest chartered accountant, earning widespread commendation from the Federal Government.
The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, congratulated the teenager on her remarkable achievement, describing it as a testament to hard work, discipline, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
In a statement issued on Monday, the minister said Okundaye’s accomplishment demonstrated the immense potential of Nigerian youths and should inspire young people across the country to pursue excellence.
“Osasere has distinguished herself as a shining example of the limitless potential of Nigerian youth. Her accomplishment reminds us that with determination, dedication, and the right support, young Nigerians can break barriers, set new records, and inspire a generation to dream bigger and strive for excellence,” Olawande said.
The minister also praised her parents, family, teachers, mentors, and everyone who contributed to her success, acknowledging their encouragement and sacrifices throughout her journey.
He reaffirmed the Federal Ministry of Youth Development’s commitment to creating opportunities and implementing policies that empower young Nigerians to realise their full potential.
Okundaye achieved the milestone after successfully qualifying as a chartered accountant through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), becoming the youngest person ever to attain the prestigious professional certification in the country.
Her feat surpassed the previous record set in 2022 by Jonathan Adewale, who became Nigeria’s youngest chartered accountant at the age of 17.
The ICAN qualification is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most rigorous professional certifications, typically earned by university graduates and professionals after years of intensive study and examinations.
