The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, have called for greater unity among APC members in the Diaspora to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The duo made the call during a Strategic Global Diaspora Conference organised by the Diaspora and Global Affairs Directorate of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, which attracted over 600 participants across five continents including Africa, Europe, America, Canada and Australia.
Speaking at the virtual conference, Prof. Yilwatda stressed the need for stronger coordination among Diaspora communities, effective communication of government reforms and achievements, as well as the creation of structured media teams to tackle misinformation and promote Nigeria’s image globally.
The APC Chairman also highlighted the importance of Diaspora involvement in voter education, investment mobilisation and communicating the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration.
Governor Uzodimma, who doubled as Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, urged APC Diaspora members to remain united and strengthen grassroots mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Also speaking, Kaduna State Governor and Deputy Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Governor Uba Sani, commended the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, for convening the conference, describing Diaspora engagement as a strategic tool for mobilising support for the administration.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Doro, called for stronger links between Diaspora capacity and grassroots governance, while advocating the involvement of young Nigerians in media initiatives to showcase government achievements and counter false narratives.
The Lagos State Governor’s Chief of Staff and Coordinator of Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Lagos State, Chief Tayo Ayinde, highlighted economic reforms and developments under President Tinubu, including infrastructure projects, Shell’s return to Nigeria and the introduction of interest-free student loans through NELFund.
Dabiri-Erewa, who also serve as Director of the Diaspora Directorate, pledged continued engagement with APC members abroad on effective communication strategies and policy dissemination.
The APC Diaspora Coordinating Chairman, Mr. Tunde Doherty, and Operational Director of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Mr. Tayo Shodeinde, described the gathering as a significant platform for strengthening coordination among APC Diaspora chapters worldwide.
Participants at the conference pledged continued support and mobilisation towards achieving the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The event, moderated by Mac Babafemi, focused on Diaspora unity, grassroots engagement, improved communication channels and the compilation of President Tinubu’s achievements for wider circulation among Nigerians abroad.
