The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the mother of the party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, describing her passing as a painful loss to the Basiru family, the APC, and the people of Osun State.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda conveyed the condolences of the National Working Committee (NWC), party leaders, members, and supporters nationwide to Senator Basiru and his family following the passing of the family matriarch, who died peacefully at a ripe age.
The APC National Chairman described the late mother of the National Secretary as a woman whose life was marked by faith, dignity, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to her family, noting that she lived a fulfilled life and left behind enduring values that would continue to inspire generations.
While acknowledging the pain of losing a loved one, Yilwatda said the family should find comfort in the remarkable legacy she left behind through her exemplary children and the virtues she instilled in them.
He particularly praised Senator Basiru for the exceptional love, care, and devotion he showed his mother throughout her lifetime, especially during her illness.
According to the APC chairman, despite the enormous responsibilities of serving as the party’s National Secretary, Basiru remained committed to ensuring his mother received the best possible care, describing his conduct as a reflection of compassion, gratitude, and strong family values.
Yilwatda prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant her eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus, and give Senator Basiru, his siblings, children, and the entire family the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He also urged the National Secretary to draw strength from the enduring legacy of integrity, discipline, humility, and service that his mother bequeathed to the family, expressing confidence that her memory would continue to inspire them.
“On behalf of our great Party, I extend our deepest sympathies to our National Secretary and his family at this difficult moment. We share in your grief and pray that the Almighty grants Mama eternal rest and gives the family the courage to bear this loss. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” Yilwatda said.
