The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Dr. Uzoma Nwaubani, a US-based Nigerian physician who passed away during a medical outreach in Abia State.
In a statement issued by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Dabiri-Erewa described the incident as a painful loss to the medical community, the Nigerian diaspora, and the country at large.
She noted that the late Dr. Nwaubani was a dedicated member of the Association of Nigerian Physicians in the Americas, widely recognised for her passion for volunteer medical missions and her commitment to providing healthcare services to underserved communities in Nigeria.
According to the statement, Dr. Nwaubani was part of an ANPA-organised medical mission in Abia State when she developed a sudden medical emergency. Despite prompt response and efforts by attending medical personnel, she could not be revived.
Dabiri-Erewa extended condolences to the bereaved family, colleagues, and members of ANPA, praying for strength and comfort during the difficult period. She also prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased.
Dr. Nwaubani’s passing has continued to draw tributes from colleagues in the diaspora medical community, who described her as a selfless professional committed to giving back to her home country through humanitarian service.
