DG lauds ASIF partnership with NYSC,as 6 Corp Members receive Grants

The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General YD Ahmed has commended Activate Success International Foundation (ASIF), for its continuous partnership in empowering Corps Members.

 

He gave the applause during the presentation of cheques worth Three Million Naira to Six Corps Entrepreneurs, held at Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim Conference Centre, NYSC Headquarters Maitama, Abuja.

Brigadier General Ahmed, while urging other corporate organizations to emulate the ASIF in providing financial and material resources to encourage NYSC to produce more enterpreneurs that will boost Nigeria’s economy, also called on the beneficiaries to use the seed-money as a stepping stone to success in their chosen business enterprises.

 

He assured ASIF of NYSC’s readiness to provide the needed guide and close supervision to ensure that none of the Corps Members derails from the path to success in utilizing the funds.

 

Earlier, the Director, Skills Acquisition and Enterpreneurship Development, SAED, Mrs Ngozi Dorathy Nwatarali revealed that ASIF had for the past five years been one of NYSC’s partners that have been providing start-up capital to Corps Entrepreneurs.

 

In her remark during the event, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ASIF, Mrs Love Idoko-Oluko thanked NYSC for giving her the platform to identify young talents that need to be empowered to become employers of labour.

 

She stated that ASIF has given grants to 59 Corps Members across Nigeria since it introduced a Scheme called Youth Enterpreneurship Empowerment Programme (YEEP).

 

Mrs Idoko-Oluko said the selection process was transparent as beneficiaries are usually picked based on assessment of their business plans by an independent body of experts.

 

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Corps Member Benjamin Monday (FC/22B/0389) who is into piggery appreciated NYSC and ASIF for the privilege given to them to have funds to start up their business ventures, promising that they will do their best to justify the confidence reposed in them by expanding their businesses.
