The Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (DICAN) Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria has announced plans to honour distinguished institutions and individuals for their contributions to global peace and stability at its forthcoming international conference in Abuja.
The high-level summit, scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at the Rotunda Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, will bring together global diplomatic actors, intelligence stakeholders, trade experts, and media professionals to address the growing threat of information warfare and Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI).
With the theme: “Information Warfare (FIMI): Strengthening Global Security, Trade and Investment Through Collaborative Truth: Role of Diplomacy, Intelligence, and Media,” the conference seek to explore how coordinated global responses can safeguard international markets and political stability in an era increasingly shaped by digital disinformation.
Chairman of DICAN, Idehai Frederick, said the initiative underscored the urgent need to protect the integrity of information, warned that misinformation and coordinated manipulation now posed significant risks to investor confidence, supply chains, and global economic stability.
He described the summit as a platform for advancing “collaborative truth” among diplomacy, intelligence, and media actors to strengthen trust in global systems.
The conference is expected to attract high-level participation, including the United States Ambassador, the Chinese Ambassador, and the European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, alongside representatives from over 100 diplomatic missions.
According to organizers, the event will also serve as a platform for networking and global engagement, reinforcing Nigeria’s position as a hub for diplomatic dialogue on security-conscious investment and international cooperation.
By combining recognition of peacebuilders with in-depth discussions on information warfare and global security, the summit aim to shape new frameworks for protecting trade, investment, and diplomatic relations in a rapidly evolving geopolitical environment.
