The Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (DICAN), in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is set to host its maiden edition of the International Diplomatic and Security Conference in Abuja.
The high-profile event, which will take place at the Rotunda Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is aimed at examining Nigeria’s foreign policy trajectory amidst rising global uncertainties.
The conference, themed “Nigeria’s 4Ds Foreign Policy Strategy Amidst Global Security Challenges, Strategic Misperceptions, and the Age of Disinformation: The Role of Diplomacy, Intelligence, and Media in Shaping National and Global Stability,” is expected to attract key stakeholders from across the diplomatic, intelligence, security, media, and academic sectors.
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will deliver the keynote address at the gathering, which is expected to be attended by former Nigerian Presidents, state governors, lawmakers, heads of security and intelligence agencies, ambassadors, and members of the diplomatic corps.
A major highlight of the event will be a robust panel session featuring notable speakers including the Ambassador of the European Union to Nigeria and ECOWAS, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), and Professor Sheriff Ghali of the University of Abuja.
The conference aims to promote a deeper understanding of Nigeria’s 4Ds Foreign Policy Strategy Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora as the country navigates a rapidly evolving global order.
Also on the agenda is a critical presentation on Disinformation and Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI), exploring its impacts on Nigeria’s national security and international image in the digital age.
“This landmark event underscores the critical intersection between diplomacy, national security, and the media in shaping Nigeria’s global engagement,” DICAN stated in a release.
