The Edo State Government, through its Ministry of Education, has issued a call to parents, guardians, traditional rulers, neighbors, landlords, and civil organizations to actively support every child in their community, even beyond school hours. This appeal is aimed at ensuring that children feel valued and protected in their homes and surrounding environments.
Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, the Commissioner for Education, stressed the importance of treating every child with the same care and attention one would give their own. He believes that this mindset will help significantly reduce instances of child abuse and maltreatment. According to Iyamu, fostering a caring and nurturing environment is essential to ensuring the safety of children in the state.
Governor Monday Okpebholo, in his continued commitment to the welfare of Edo’s youth, also advocated for love and support for all children. His administration underscores that every child, regardless of their background, deserves the utmost protection and care.
The state government therefore called on all stakeholders to unite and work towards creating a secure and nurturing environment, ultimately ensuring that every child in Edo State grow up in a community that value and protect them, laying the foundation for a brighter future.
