As Muslims across Nigeria and around the world celebrate Eid Kabir, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has extended warm greetings and commendation to members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their unwavering dedication and sacrifice in defence of the nation.
General Musa praised the courage and resilience of Nigerian troops, particularly those deployed in frontline operations across the country’s communities, maritime domain, and borders, describing their efforts as a source of national pride and hope.
In a special Sallah message signed by the Director, Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Musa described the sacrifices of the Armed Forces as the true embodiment of patriotism. “Your courage and commitment continue to inspire hope and confidence in the hearts of all Nigerians. You are an embodiment of patriotism, and your sacrifice will never go unrecognized,” he said.
The CDS reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to professionalism, unity, and discipline, noting that the military remains focused on its constitutional duties of protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty and supporting civil authorities to ensure peace and stability.
He also emphasized that national security is a shared responsibility, urging Nigerians to support security agencies through cooperation, credible information sharing, and by promoting unity while rejecting extremism, misinformation, and all acts of disunity.
Reflecting on the significance of Eid Kabir, General Musa encouraged Nigerians to emulate the spirit of sacrifice and selflessness the festival represents. He reaffirmed his commitment to deepening joint operations, enhancing troop welfare, investing in training, and leveraging technology to meet today’s security challenges.
“We are aware of our responsibilities, and we are determined to fulfill them with honour and integrity,” he added.
The Defence Chief concluded with a patriotic call for unity: “Let us all stand together military and civilian, young and old to build a peaceful, prosperous, and secure Nigeria. We have no other country than Nigeria. Together, we shall overcome.
“Barka Da Sallah!
God Bless the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
