Governor Umo Eno joins APC, receives warm welcome from party leadership

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially welcomed the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, into its fold, described his defection as a strategic and progressive move that will benefit both the state and the nation.

 

In a statement issued on Friday, June 6, 2025, in Abuja, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC, led by its National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, expressed delight at the governor’s decision to join the ruling party.

 

The statement, signed by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, Esq., praised Governor Eno for his “bold and thoughtful decision,” stating that his defection is a welcome development that aligns with the party’s vision for national growth and development.

 

“We are confident that his thoughtful decision will inure to the greater progress of Akwa Ibom State and its people,” the statement read.

 

The party assured Governor Eno of its full cooperation and accommodation, pledging to work closely with him in realizing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

 

Governor Eno’s move is expected to significantly reshape the political landscape in Akwa Ibom State, traditionally a stronghold of the opposition, and signaled renewed momentum for the APC in the South-South geopolitical zone.
