Farmers /Herders conflict: Group advocate increased funding for NSCDC Agro Rangers

A pressure group,Network for Peace and National Food Security has called on Federal government of Nigeria to increase funding for the Agro Rangers unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,NSCDC.
‘The group in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade James Okoronkwo noted that the NSCDC Agro Rangers has been performing creditably to the delight of the rank and file in addition to the critical stakeholders.
The group also hailed the appointment of through- bred security professional, Mr Clinton Hillary Madu as the NSCDC Commandant -General
“Mr Madu since he assumed office has been working assiduously to enhance national food security but needs the support of all and sundry to stem the increasing wave of farmers /herders conflict.
“We urge the federal government to fund the Agro Rangers Unit adequately to enable it procure better security gadgets and also train the personnel more efficiently. At this juncture, we pass a vote of confidence on the NSCDC Commandant General and urge him to continue to strive to achieve the dreams of the NSCDC founding fathers. well as protect the over 250 ranches built by the current administration .
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC) was established to protect critical national assets amongst other functions.
Lately,the Agro Rangers Unit was created by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to safeguard agro- allied investments as well as protect the over 250 ranches built by the current administration
The Agro Rangers Unit was mandated to enhance food security in the country which is currently being threatened by the incessant farmers/herders conflict across Nigeria.
