Gov Sani Bello charges newly sworn-in Katcha LGA Chair to resolve Kpata-Katcha Crisis

Niger state Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has charged the newly sworn-in chairman of Katcha local government area, Musa Isyaku of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to resolve the communal clashes in Kpata-Katcha community.

 

Governor Sani Bello stated this shortly after presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of the Chairman at the Government House, Minna.

 

The Governor who expressed concern over the lingering crisis in the community and drew the attention of the newly sworn-in chairman of the need to addressing it squarely.

 

“Now you are in the position of leadership, that problem is back on your head and it will be the first problem you will face. So go and solve it”, he said.

 

Meanwhile the Governor has admonished the people to respect the fundamental human rights of all Nigerians, saying that Nigerians are free to live in any part of the country but must respect constituted authority.

 

“We are all Nigerlites and Nigerians, and every Nigerian is free to leave where he or she wants to leave”, he added.

 

While congratulating the new council Chairman, the Governor urged him to carry everyone along and remain guided by the oath of office and allegiance he has taken for him to succeed.

 

Speaking to Journalists, the Chairman, Musa Isiyaku who was elected as Chairman in the November10th 2022 local government elections, promised to involve all traditional rulers in the local government area and major stakeholders towards ensuring that the incessant communal clashes are addressed.

 

He also assured of operating an open door policy.

 

The Chief Judge of Niger State, Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik who was representated by Justice Ishaku Usman administered the oath of office and allegiance.

 

Recalled that the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Danlami Abdullahi Sakau was declared by the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission (NSIEC) during the last year’s local government elections.

 

However, the Local Government Election Petition Tribunal overturned the result in favour of the APC candidate as the duly elected chairman.
