Nigeria’s High Commissioner Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Rt. Hon. Jerrymon Samuel Manwe, has formally presented his Letters of Credence to the President of Trinidad and Tobago, Christine Carla Kangaloo, officially commencing his diplomatic assignment in the Caribbean nation.
The credential presentation ceremony took place on Tuesday in Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa.
The ministry explained that the presentation of Letters of Credence is a longstanding diplomatic tradition that formally marks the beginning of a Head of Mission’s accreditation to a host country, paving the way for the envoy to carry out official diplomatic responsibilities.
Manwe was accompanied to the ceremony by the Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Martin Nworie Eze, and the Minister Counsellor at the Nigerian High Commission, Mrs. Angye Dankaro.
The ceremony featured the signing of the Visitors’ Book, the formal presentation of the Letters of Credence, the exchange of official gifts, and discussions on issues of mutual interest between Nigeria and Trinidad and Tobago. It concluded with the ceremonial departure of the Nigerian High Commissioner, escorted by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Mounted Branch.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the accreditation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and deepening diplomatic engagement with the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
