The Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG),Ahmed Ibrahim Matane has reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to collaborate with Government and non-governmental organizations in order to end violence against women and children in the State.
Ahmed Matane disclosed this when he received a report of sixteen day of activism from the National Human Rights Commission, Minna in his office.
The SSG stressed that Government will continue to support any move targeted at the elimination of violence against women and children in all its ramifications.
Ahmed Matane who was represented by Yahaya Babawachiko, Permanent Secretary, Economic Affairs, SSG’s Office further maintained that women and children must be accorded rightful place and recognition they deserved in the society so as to excel in all aspects of human endeavours.
Presenting the report to the SSG, the State Coordinator National Human Rights Commission, Alh Nuhu Mohammed said they have engaged in sixteen day activities with a walk and visit to places in the State with a view to creating awareness on dangers associated with violence against women and children.
Alh Nuhu Mohammed also appealed to Governnor Abubakar Sani Bello to as a matter of urgency assent to the bill on violence against women and children before him so as to ease their work.
