The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to creating an enabling environment for investment and strengthening international partnerships aimed at driving economic growth, job creation, and humanitarian development.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard M. Doro, made this known on Tuesday while receiving the Norwegian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Andreas Kravik, who led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the ministry in Abuja.
Dr. Doro said Nigeria remains a land of vast opportunities and is open to investors willing to partner with the country in unlocking its economic potential.
According to him, increased investment in Nigeria would create more employment opportunities for young people, enabling them to develop their talents and contribute meaningfully to national development.
“We need a strong and resilient partnership to make the Nigerian market large and strong,” the minister said, adding that the ministry’s priority is to ensure that the benefits of ongoing macroeconomic reforms translate into tangible improvements in the lives of Nigerians, particularly those affected by humanitarian crises.
He expressed the ministry’s readiness to work closely with Norway while upholding international law and aligning its interventions with the Kampala Declaration, which addresses key issues across the food value chain, including nutrition, economic development, and environmental sustainability.
Speaking earlier, the Norwegian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Kravik, said the visit was aimed at exploring areas of partnership with the Nigerian Government, particularly the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
He described Nigeria as a major force on the African continent, noting that enhanced collaboration between both countries would yield mutual benefits in the areas of economy, security, human rights, and humanitarian development.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr. Olubunmi Olusanya, welcomed the Norwegian delegation and expressed appreciation for the visit.
Olusanya described the engagement as an opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation in humanitarian assistance and expressed optimism for sustained support and collaboration between Nigeria and Norway.
The meeting underscored both countries’ commitment to deepening cooperation in areas that promote economic growth, social protection, humanitarian response, and sustainable development.
