The Director General of National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed,has warned Corps Members to respect the cultural beliefs and traditions of their host communities and avoid anything that may put them on collision with them.
NYSC DG gave the warning today while addressing Corps Members deployed to Nasarawa State, at the Orientation Camp in Magaji Dan-Yamusa, Keffi.
He said Management had put everything in place for the Corps Members to have a hitch-free service year, but they must play their own part by exhibiting good behavior as role models at all times.
He advised them to use the social media to promote national unity and integration.
‘Learn the culture and traditions of your host communities and be friendly with whoever you come across during service year.
Work hard, be patient, be prayerful and l assure you, you will succeed”, the DG said.
He reiterated the provision of adequate security and improved welfare package for those of them that would serve as ad-hoc staff in the forthcoming general elections.
General Ahmed admonished the Corps Members to acquire vocational training under the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, as it would empower them towards becoming self-independent.
While in Camp, the Director General visited the NYSC North Central Integrated Skill Acquisition Centre inside the Nasarawa State Orientation Camp Keffi, and also the NYSC Bread and Water Factories where he commended the managers and workers of both outlets.
General Ahmed, before leaving the Camp donated 200 plastic chairs and ten standing fans for use at the Orientation Camp.
NYSC Nasarawa State Coordinator, Alhaji Abdullahi Jikamshi, while briefing General Ahmed on camp situation said the Secretariat registered a total of 1,355 Corps Members consisting of 694 males and 661 females.
He stated that all Corps Members have been participating actively in all Camp activities including the lectures and trainings on Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme.
He also informed the Director General about the achievements made so far and the prospects of NYSC Nasarawa State Orientation Camp.
