The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi II, has praised the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, describing his leadership and contributions to community development as a source of pride to the Ife Kingdom and Modakeke community.
The monarch spoke during the annual Eid-el-Kabir gathering hosted by CG Adeniyi at his residence in Modakeke, Osun State, on Thursday, May 28, 2026.
The event brought together traditional rulers, political leaders, senior Customs officers, community stakeholders, family members, friends and associates.
Oba Ogunwusi said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s public commendation of the Customs boss reflected the confidence reposed in him and the achievements recorded under his leadership.
“We are very proud of him and the work he is doing. When Mr President publicly expressed satisfaction with his performance, it was not a casual statement. It reflects trust in his capacity and the results he is delivering. What he is doing in the Customs Service and in the community shows that he is a unifier,” the monarch said.
Reaffirming the support of the Ife Kingdom, the Ooni noted that Adeniyi’s ability to bring people together exemplified true leadership.
“He brings people together, and that is what leadership is about. We will continue to stand by him and pray for him,” he added.
Speaking at the gathering, CG Adeniyi expressed gratitude to the Ooni, community leaders, family members, friends, associates and well-wishers for their support.
He described Eid-el-Kabir as a period that highlights the values of sacrifice, gratitude, obedience and service to humanity, noting that the occasion also provides an opportunity to strengthen relationships and reflect on collective efforts towards nation-building.
The Customs CG stated that the NCS has continued to make significant strides in revenue generation, trade facilitation, anti-smuggling operations, technological innovation and corporate social responsibility initiatives in line with the Federal Government’s economic objectives.
According to him, the Service remained committed to supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda through reforms aimed at facilitating legitimate trade, enhancing national security, improving compliance and stimulating economic growth.
Adeniyi further disclosed that the Customs Service has sustained investments in community-focused interventions nationwide, including educational support programmes, healthcare initiatives and other projects designed to improve the lives of Nigerians.
He pledged that the Service would continue to implement reforms to strengthen operations, uphold professionalism and transparency, and deliver greater value to the nation.
The Comptroller-General also thanked President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve and assured Nigerians of the Service’s continued support for policies aimed at promoting economic prosperity and national development.
