PSC appoints Peter Opara as Commissioner of Police FCT Command

The Police Service Commission has approved the appointment of CP Peter Ukachi Opara as substantive Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory command, Abuja.

 

CP Opara will be replacing CP Benneth Igweh who has since been promoted to the next rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police.

 

He was posted to Zone 7 Abuja as the Zonal Assistant Inspector General of Police.

 

This was contained in a statement by Head, Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani issued to journalists in Abuja on Friday.

 

The new FCT Commissioner was the immediate CP Force Secretary’s office and former Deputy Commissioner, Administration and Finance, Imo State Command.

 

He also at a time served as Personal Assistant to former Chairman of the Police Service Commission, IGP Mike Okiro rtd. CP Opara was DCP Legal Studies Police Academy. POLAC, Wudil Kano, Area Commander Aba and Uyo; Area Crime Officer kubwa, and Senior Deputy Defence Adviser Police, Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations, New York.

 

Emporium Reporters earlier reported that the Police Service Commission approved the appointment of four substantive commissioners of police for Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi and Akwa Ibom state commands.

 

The appointments followed the recent promotion of some senior police officers by the Commission which created vacancies in some state commands, according to a statement signed by Ikechukwu Ani, PSC Head of Press and Public Relations, on Friday.

 

The new commissioners are Isah Danladi Nda, Abia State Command; Olarewaju Ishola Olawale, Lagos State Command; Anthonia Adaku Uche Anya, Ebonyi State Command and Miller Gajere Dantawaye, Akwa Ibom State Command.
