The Obafemi Awolowo University Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba Shefiu Adewale, the Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom, described his death as a great loss to the Muslim community, Epe Kingdom, and Nigeria at large.
In a condolence message signed by its National President, Engr. Mohammad Buari, and issued on Monday, June 3, 2025, UNIFEMGA said it received the news of the monarch’s death with shock but in total submission to the will of Almighty Allah.
Oba Shefiu Adewale passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
UNIFEMGA noted that the late Oba was not only a proud Muslim alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, but also a distinguished former executive member of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN OAU), where he served as Publicity Secretary between 1969 and 1971.
“His leadership journey from MSSN to the royal stool was a reflection of his enduring character, humility, and love for humanity,” the statement read.
The association described the late monarch as a father, a leader, and a bridge-builder who devoted his life to service, peacebuilding, and community development.
While praying for the repose of his soul, UNIFEMGA asked Allah (SWT) to overlook his shortcomings, accept his good deeds, and admit him into Al-Jannatul Firdaus.
“We also pray that Almighty Allah grants his family, the people of Epe, and all loved ones the fortitude to bear this great loss,” the statement added.
UNIFEMGA extended its heartfelt condolences to the royal family of Epe, the MSSN OAU community, and the broader Muslim Ummah.
“Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return,” the group concluded.
