Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has congratulated the Muslim community on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, urged them to embrace peace and support his administration to reposition the state to an enviable height.
Otu, in his Eid-el-Kabir message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Emmanuel Ogbeche, urged the Muslim Ummah to continue in their prayers for Cross River State and Nigeria to be a society that works for all.
The governor, who sued for tolerance, sacrifice and commitment to the teachings of Allah as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim, said as his government is gradually settling down and working towards a better state for all citizens irrespective of tribe, religion and ethnic differences.
The governor appealed to all citizens in the state to embrace peace and mutual cohabitation, despite the obvious challenges, urging them to be law-abiding.
“I call on all Muslim faithful to be tolerant, obedient, and show act of sacrifice as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim who was ready to sacrifice his only son in obedience and submission to the will of Allah.
“The Muslim community in Cross River State have been part of the ‘Peoples First’ Agenda to develop a social economy and political architecture and as such an important partner.
“On behalf of the Government and People of Cross River State, I wish the Muslim community a successful Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.”
