The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced the commencement of a Police Welfare Bus Scheme aimed at improving transportation and overall welfare for its personnel.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, said the initiative was approved by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and will officially begin operations on Monday, April 27, 2026.
Sanusi explained that the scheme is designed to ease transportation challenges faced by officers and men of the Command while enhancing their welfare and productivity. As part of the rollout, three Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered buses have been deployed to service key routes within the FCT and surrounding areas.
According to the Command, the first bus will operate from the Goshen, Auta-Balefi axis through Masaka, Mararaba, and Nyanya, terminating at the Force Headquarters, Area 11, Abuja. The second bus will take off from Zuba Divisional Headquarters, passing through Madalla, Abubakar Police Barracks, Brick City, Kubwa, Dutse Junction, and the Secretariat before terminating at Area 11. The third bus will depart from Kuje Divisional Headquarters, covering Kuje Police Barracks, Airport Road, Lugbe, and the Stadium axis, also ending at the Force Headquarters.
All buses are scheduled to depart their respective starting points daily at 6:15 a.m.
The Commissioner of Police commended the Inspector-General for what he described as a thoughtful and impactful initiative, noted that it underscored the leadership’s commitment to improving the working conditions and well-being of police personnel.
He urged officers to take full advantage of the scheme, adding that enhanced welfare would translate into better service delivery, discipline, and operational efficiency across the Command.
