The Niger State Police Command has recorded significant successes in its efforts to tackle insecurity in the state. According to a release by the command, on September 12, 2025, at about 6:30 am, the Command’s Special Task Team (STT) carried out a clearance operation in the Kokolo forest via Kawo-Auna village, Nasko Magama LGA. The operation resulted in the neutralization of three suspected kidnappers and the recovery of two AK-74 rifles with 49 live ammunition. A victim was also rescued during the operation.
In a separate operation, on September 25, 2025, at about 2 am, the Command’s Anti-thuggery unit raided some blackspots and criminal hideouts around Sabon-Titi, Tunga Minna. The raids led to the arrest of two suspects, Murtala Abbas, 18, and Hassan Ibrahim, 20, who were found in possession of dangerous weapons, including two locally fabricated guns, a police T-shirt, and illicit substances.
Furthermore, on September 27, 2025, at about 11:30 am, Police operatives of ‘B’ Division Kontagora rescued and arrested an impostor, Bashir Abubakar, 28, who had duped a shop owner in Kontagora of a handset with accessories worth over N500,000 under false pretenses. The suspect was identified as the same person involved in a similar situation in the same market in August this year.
The Niger State Police Command urged members of the public to quickly inform the Police and other security agencies if anyone is found around with gunshot injuries and commended its operatives for their efforts in maintaining law and order in the state.
The suspects will be charged to court for prosecution immediately after investigation.
