The Federal Government has commenced the implementation of a 30-day visa-free entry policy for citizens of Rwanda visiting Nigeria, following a directive announced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the Africa CEO Forum held in Kigali.
The Nigeria Immigration Service said all necessary arrangements had been concluded to ensure immediate enforcement of the policy across the country’s international airports, land borders, and seaports. The Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja.
Under the bilateral arrangement, Rwandan nationals are now permitted to enter Nigeria without a visa for a period not exceeding 30 days for lawful activities such as tourism, business, and official engagements.
According to the Service, any Rwandan citizen intending to remain in Nigeria beyond the approved period would be required to obtain the appropriate visa through a Nigerian Embassy or High Commission abroad, or via the Nigeria e-Visa platform.
The immigration authorities stated that the development reflects the growing diplomatic and bilateral relations between Nigeria and Rwanda, while also advancing intra-African mobility, tourism, trade, and economic cooperation in line with broader continental integration goals.
The Service further reiterated its commitment to facilitating safe, orderly, and lawful migration in line with international best practices and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.
