CAN mourns as General Secretary dies at 66

The General Secretary of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev Musa Asake, is dead.

He died around 6am on Friday morning at 66.

CAN’s Vice President, Elder Professor Joseph Otubu, confirmed the sad incident to our correspondent.

He said: “Yes, he is gone. He died very early this morning. We have taken his corpse to Maitama Hospital.”

Asake, a former General Secretary of Ever Church Winning All (ECWA) was believed to be diabetic.

Sources said he might have died of complications from diabetes.

A statement by the CAN President, Rev Supo Ayokunle, said: “His last official assignment was the press conference he addressed few days ago on the incessant killings in the country where CAN called on Christians to embark on a peaceful protest with a view to waking up the Federal Government with the security agencies to its constitutional responsibilities.

“May God console and comfort his immediate family, the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), friends, and other well-wishers.”

The statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Rev Bayo Oladeji, explained burial arrangements will be announced later.
