As part of activities marking the 69th anniversary of the Nigerian Navy, a special Juma’ah prayer was held on Friday, May 23, 2025, during which the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, reaffirmed the Navy’s unwavering commitment to national unity, discipline, and maritime security.
Delivering a goodwill message at the prayer session, the Naval Chief expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the gift of life and the opportunity to commemorate another year of dedicated service. He called on personnel to remain steadfast, law-abiding, and united in their duty to Nigeria.
Reflecting on the strength of Nigeria’s diversity, the CNS cited the Qur’an, Surah Al-Hujurat (49:13), reminding the gathering that, “Surely, the most honorable of you with Allah is the most careful of his duty to Him,” emphasizing the divine value of unity in diversity.
“Our strength as a nation lies in our unity despite our different backgrounds,” he said, adding that the Navy’s motto, “Onward Together,” encapsulates the collaborative spirit essential for safeguarding the nation’s maritime domain.
He noted the Navy’s intensified operations against maritime crimes and economic saboteurs, and acknowledged the strong support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in enhancing operational capacity and personnel welfare. “Our success in neutralizing these threats has been possible due to Mr. President’s unwavering support,” he said.
The CNS also highlighted improvements in accommodation and general welfare packages for officers and ratings, as part of ongoing reforms aimed at boosting morale and professionalism within the ranks.
In his concluding remarks, the CNS urged personnel to rededicate themselves with renewed enthusiasm and hope. “Let us be of goodwill to one another and work together to make the Service and Nigeria greater.
“Long live the Nigerian Navy, long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Fair winds and onward together”he charged.
The Director Islamic Affairs and Imam of the Central Mosque Navy Captain Rabiu Rumah thanked the Almighty God for His steadfastness noted that as the Navy celebrates its 69th Anniversary, personnel should imbibe the virtue of truthfulness and honesty as they conduct daily affairs.
The event held at Central Mosque, Navy Town Asokoro,was attended by the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle, Chief of Policy and Plans, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Dewu, Director of Plans, Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed and Executive Director Human Resources Navy Holdings Limited, Rear Admiral Muhsin Abba among many others.
